About 8 Ball Pool
8 Ball Pool is a free two-player billiards game. Break the rack, claim solids or stripes, and pot the 8 ball last to win. Play locally or online with a friend — crossplay with iOS.
How to play 8 Ball Pool
- Player 1 breaks — strike the cue ball into the racked balls.
- The first ball legally potted after the break assigns solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15).
- On your turn, you must hit one of your group's balls first and drive a ball to a cushion or pocket.
- Pot all balls in your group, then legally sink the 8 ball to win.
- Scratching, hitting the wrong group first, or potting the 8 early loses the game.
Tips & strategy
- On the break, aim slightly off-center to spread the rack without scratching.
- Plan two shots ahead — leave the cue ball near your next target.
- Use spin to control where the cue ball stops after contact.
- When ball in hand, place the cue ball where it gives you the clearest run.
