About Dots & Boxes
Dots & Boxes is a free classic pencil-and-paper game brought online. Take turns drawing lines between dots. Complete a box to claim it and go again. When the grid is full, the player with the most boxes wins.
How to play Dots & Boxes
- Players take turns drawing one line between two adjacent dots.
- If you complete the fourth side of a box, you claim it and play again immediately.
- Continue until every box on the grid has been claimed.
- The player who owns the most boxes at the end wins.
Tips & strategy
- Avoid giving away the third side of a box too early.
- Late-game chain control is everything — plan who opens long runs.
- Sometimes sacrificing a small box sets up a much larger chain for you.
- Count remaining boxes so you know when to force the endgame.
