About Backgammon
Backgammon is a free classic race-and-strategy board game. Roll dice, move checkers toward home, hit blots, and bear off. First to clear all 15 checkers wins. Play vs a friend or CPU.
How to play Backgammon
- Roll two dice and move checkers using each die as a separate move (doubles give four moves).
- Land on a single opposing checker to hit it to the bar.
- A checker on the bar must re-enter before any other move.
- Once all your checkers are in your home board, bear them off.
- First player to bear off all 15 checkers wins.
Tips & strategy
- Avoid leaving blots (single checkers) in dangerous spots.
- Build primes — consecutive blocked points — to trap your opponent.
- When ahead in the race, simplify and bear off safely.
- When behind, look for contact and hitting chances.
