About Go
Go is one of the world's deepest strategy games — here on a friendly 9×9 board for faster matches. Place stones, surround groups, and fight for territory. Play free vs a friend or the computer.
How to play Go
- Players take turns placing stones on the intersections of the 9×9 grid.
- Surround an opponent group with no liberties to capture it.
- You cannot play a move that leaves your own group with no liberties (suicide), except when capturing.
- Pass when you have nothing useful left; two passes end the game.
- The player with more stones and territory wins.
Tips & strategy
- Stay connected — isolated stones are easy to surround.
- Watch liberties: a group with one liberty is in atari.
- Corners and sides are often easier to secure than the open center.
- Do not fill in your own eyes unless you must.
