How to play Gomoku

  1. Players take turns placing one stone on an empty intersection of the 15×15 board.
  2. The first to get five of their stones in a straight line wins.
  3. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.
  4. If the board fills with no five-in-a-row, the game is a draw.

Tips & strategy

  • Force double threats your opponent cannot block in one move.
  • Play near the center early to keep more line options open.
  • Always answer an open four — it wins on the next turn.
  • Watch for forks: two threes that become fours at once.
